Refund Policy
Pale Green Earth · palegreenearth.com · Last updated: 15 July 2026
This policy explains when and how refunds happen on Pale Green Earth ("PGE"). It works together with our Terms & Conditions, which contain the full cancellation and dispute rules.
The upshot: you only ever pay when you accept a quote; your money is held securely until the job is done; if you cancel, you get everything back except $25, which stays as credit toward finishing the job; and if a job goes wrong, our dispute process decides how held funds are returned.
1. Scope
Money flows through PGE only on the Job Marketplace. The Equipment Marketplace is a discovery service where payment is arranged directly between buyer and seller, and the Career Hub is free, so sections 2 to 7 apply to jobs, section 8 to equipment, and section 9 to careers.
2. When you pay
You pay nothing to post a job or receive quotes. Payment happens once, at the moment you accept a tradesperson's offer: the quote total plus the 2.5% processing fee. From that moment your payment is held securely and is not released to the tradesperson until the job is completed and confirmed.
3. Cancelling before you accept a quote
Close your job any time before accepting an offer. You have paid nothing, so there is nothing to refund. Pending offers are declined automatically.
4. Cancelling after you accept a quote
You may request cancellation of an accepted job at any time before completion. When the cancellation is finalised:
-
You are refunded everything you paid except $25.
-
That $25 becomes a Job Credit attached to your job. When you engage the next tradesperson on that job, the $25 is deducted from what you pay on their quote.
-
The Job Credit is not a fee. It is your value, held so the job still gets done.
-
If the job is not reassigned within 6 months, the Job Credit expires and is forfeited.
Cancellation of an accepted job takes effect when the tradesperson accepts the request or PGE resolves it under the dispute process.
5. If the tradesperson cancels
If your tradesperson cancels the job, or PGE determines a cancellation was not your fault, you receive a full refund of everything you paid, including the processing fee. No Job Credit is withheld.
6. Completed jobs
Once a job has been confirmed complete by both parties (or auto-confirmed after 72 hours with no response and no dispute), funds are released to the tradesperson and there is no automatic refund. If something is wrong with completed work, raise a dispute (section 7) or contact us. Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law against the tradesperson who performed the work.
7. Disputes and refunds
Raising a dispute pauses fund release for that job. PGE reviews both sides and platform records and resolves the dispute with one of the following outcomes, which determines the money:
-
Customer wins: held funds are refunded to the customer.
-
Tradesperson wins: held funds are released to the tradesperson.
-
Split decision: held funds are divided between the parties as PGE determines.
-
Mutually resolved: funds follow the agreement the parties reached.
-
Inconclusive: PGE will determine the fairest available handling of the held funds and explain it to both parties.
Each member may raise one dispute per 30-day period, and a dispute may be withdrawn within 24 hours of being raised. PGE's resolution is final as to funds held on the platform; it does not remove either party's legal rights against the other.
8. Equipment Marketplace
PGE does not process payments, hold funds, or charge fees on equipment transactions, so PGE cannot issue refunds for them. Payment, inspection, delivery, and any refund or return are matters between the buyer and the seller. We strongly recommend inspecting equipment in person and paying only on pickup or delivery. Where a seller is acting in trade or commerce, Australian Consumer Law guarantees may apply to the sale; those rights are against the seller. If a member behaves fraudulently, report them to us and we will act on the account.
9. Career Hub
Posting requires employer verification and applying is free. No payments, no refunds.
10. Refund processing times
Refunds are issued to your original payment method through Stripe. Once issued, banks typically post refunds within 5 to 10 business days. We will confirm by notification when your refund has been issued.
11. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. The remedies in this policy are in addition to those rights.
12. How to request a refund or get help
Use the cancellation or dispute actions on the job card in your dashboard; they are the fastest path and follow the rules above exactly. For anything else, contact us and include the job title and what happened.
